The Tudor Era building had previously been used for many years as a conference centre and looked tired and unappealing. Cognita knew they needed specialist help to transform the building and décor into a contemporary senior school and sixth form that would attract new students. Pinnacle created a full interior design scheme for all the furniture, materials and finishes for the entire building, including the common room, classrooms, library, staffroom, offices, music room, science laboratories and reception area. Materials used had to be appropriate for the building’s age and to complement its unique characteristics.
A unique feature of the School is that it was created out of 3 buildings joined together. This makes it confusing to navigate due to quite a few staircases and narrow, winding corridors and a navigation system was needed so that students could intuitively find their way around. The solution was to place bright, iconic furniture at key locations in the building that could be used as reference points. This provided an alternative to traditional navigation methods such as signage.
