The Brief
Barking & Dagenham College is one of twelve colleges and universities nationally to secure government funding to open an Institute of Technology. ISG secured the project through the Pagabo framework and approached Pinnacle to design and supply the fixed FFE. The design process had to be completed under stringent timescales and take an outline design for the FFE through technical design and delivery.
These brand-new facilities are designed to deliver high-level training in specialist occupations. The new building provides education and training in Construction, Advanced Engineering, Robotics, Digital Design and IT.
What we did
The outline design needed collaboration with the College, Architect and main contractor regarding functionality, curriculum delivery plan, M&E coordination, future proofing and expansion. Pinnacle were a key design partner and led this process ensuring that the final FFE solution met the College’s practical requirements, design brief and budget.
ISG appointed Pinnacle to deliver the fixed FFE for the project, including several specialist rooms such as dark rooms/photography studios, 3D printing rooms, electronics, laboratories, and open-plan study spaces. The project was constructed to a BREAAM excellent standard and all the furniture supplied was FSC® certified.
