Bridgend College
An inclusive and diverse college, Bridgend College is a further education facility supporting over 6,000 students across its 5 campuses in Wales.
Pinnacle were appointed by Contractor ISG to supply the fixed and loose furniture as well as to kit out the new STEM block with state-of-the-art laboratory furniture. As part of the brief, Pinnacle took the Architect’s design and created concepts with alternative furniture items to provide sustainable options and ensure the College’s budget requirements were met. The project was classed as BREEAM excellent, which enabled us to make full use of our sustainable supply to chain to ensure fabrics and furniture components were environmentally friendly.
In the STEM block we installed a large feature wall of petrified moss, surrounded by bespoke timber joinery elements. The moss wall was a brilliant example of bringing nature indoors and added to the block’s modern look and feel. Within the laboratory classrooms, we installed top of the range furniture, which varied depending on which branch of science the room belonged to.
In the Land-Based building we installed specialist benching and equipment in the workshops, breakout furniture and booth seating in social spaces. TeacherWalls were added to the majority of the classrooms and LockerWalls, made from wardrobe lockers instead of steel, were also installed. Through-out the classrooms we used a variety of different chair types depending on the rooms purpose, for instance swivel height adjustable frames where used in the IT Suites.
