Christ the King College
Christ the King College on the Isle of Wight had a brand new sixth form centre being built which needed to be completely furnished. The project was complicated and demanding and the college needed to select their preferred supplier early on in the procurement process to enable full and detailed consultation.

The College needed the confidence that they were getting the best value for money, so they selected a list of the top 20 items that would be used in the building and sent them out for competitive tender. Pinnacle Furniture represented the best value for money and were chosen as the schools partner of choice for the design, procurement, delivery and installation of the FFE (furniture, fittings and equipment.)
The new sixth form block features modern furniture solutions for at least 33 rooms with 15 different types of usage. Our educational expertise enabled us to provide the most appropriate furniture to all areas in the flagship new build including the hall, cloakroom, learning resource centre, outdoor breakout seating, DT room, common room, IT suite, classrooms, science labs, dining area, music IT room, art room and seminar rooms. It was important to the school that there was flexible and re-configurable furniture throughout the building and a consistent colour scheme even though there was such a broad range of furniture.
What we did
In order to meet Christ the King College’s budget, some areas needed very careful cost control to enable the statement areas to be furnished with more contemporary and eye-catching furniture. Considered use of colour throughout with the same bright shades tied the entire furnishing scheme together.
The logistics of the project couldn’t be underestimated as the college is located on the Isle of Wight and there were ferry crossings to contend with. The new build contract ran slightly behind leaving a single week installation window for all the furniture. As well as the tight installation time, the site access was so narrow that no vehicle larger than 7.5 tons could access the grounds! Overcoming these obstacles and ensuring the building was ready for use at the start of the new term for all the pupils was a rewarding experience and proved again the expertise of the logistics and installation team at Pinnacle Furniture.
