Dunottar School

Location: Reigate, Surrey

The Brief

Based in the picturesque town of Reigate, Dunottar School boasts beautiful grounds and an original mansion house dating back to 1867. The new sixth form block located alongside the property was part of the School’s £2.2million development project funded by United Learning. The client wanted to create a mature learning space for Years 12-13, including ergonomic and acoustic rated furniture. The project involved redesigning the Sixth Form common room, general teaching classrooms, recreation area and quiet study space. A key element of the overall refurbishment was to enhance relaxation whilst also being suitable for students to undertake individual and group study.

What we did

In order to create both a practical and creative space for students and staff, we fitted TeacherWalls in the classrooms to ensure excellent storage facilities and adaptable teaching use. The unique TeacherWall includes sliding whiteboard doors, a bookcase, tray and cupboard units and a pull-out drawer for teachers. The TeacherWall can also be adapted to mount an interactive whiteboard. Ergoflex chairs were supplied in each classroom to provide ergonomic support and longevity of use through their blow-moulded plastic exterior and grooved texture which relieves pressure on the spinal column and ensures a robust and stable design.

For the Sixth Form common room, we tailored multiple Sculpt Seating around tables, ideal for group studying or socializing with friends. The curved design breaks up the space to create movement and zones within the large room and compliments the light and modern build. Equally, Penta seating provided a unique and colourful configuration of seating options that are comfortable and practical for everyday use.
