Reigate Grammar School
Reigate Grammar School commissioned Pinnacle to design and fit out 3 science laboratories and a prep room on a tight timescale during summer holidays. This project followed previous works at the school including a laboratory project in 2011.
|Number of students||1,288|
The laboratories feature a linear layout where all students face the teacher’s demonstration bench. This layout works well for demonstrating experiments and ensuring the teacher can see all pupils at the same time. This design also factors in a generous amount of storage, worktop space and plenty of gas and electrical outlets and sinks for practical work. The prep room features fitted storage, spur shelving and tray storage units, along with a dishwasher, gas taps and sink. A fume cupboard was supplied for one laboratory for the more dangerous experiments to be carried out safely.
Fitted storage around the perimeter of the room holds materials, and bespoke student storage under the benches allow the worktops to be cleared efficiently when conducting practical experiments.
What we did
The theory laboratory has the worktops clear for written work and the other laboratories have high quality gas taps and double gooseneck laboratory taps that are durable and vandal resistant.
Composite stone worktops are scratch, impact and chemical resistant, an ideal choice for laboratories. We have a huge range of colours of composite stone worktops to suit a variety of colour schemes. Sink covers maximise worktop space and have drip holes cut into them to keep the work surface dry.
The laboratories were furnished with poly stools with backs for a durable and comfortable seating solution. Coat hooks provide a place to hang lab coats neatly by the door.
