The Royal Docks Academy is a co-educational secondary school, and part of the BMAT Multi Academy Trust in Newham, London. Our Lead Project Consultant, Roger, was delighted to be working with the London school again over the summer holidays.
Our Senior FFE Designer, Ellie, designed the spaces to create three new science laboratories and provide washrooms to complement the modern facilities of the Rotunda.

School refurbishment for Royal Docks Academy
Designing the science laboratories
Royal Docks Academy wanted to divide a larger space and create three new science laboratories. Our Senior FFE Designer, Ellie, had to factor in the design, the wall partitions, including height-adjustable tables for accessibility and safety measures. We used Peninsula benching to maximise the capacity of the classroom and provide flexibility in both theory and practical lessons.
Creating comfortable and accessible washrooms
The client specified floor to ceiling washrooms and opted for Corian wash troughs for durability, hygiene, and adaptability to suit the washroom environment and complement the Rotunda structure in the school. We did a complete strip out with new vinyl flooring, installation of cubicles, lighting, sink sensor taps, and new entrance doors into the area of the corridor.
Overall the client was pleased with the management of the installation over the holiday period, and the end result, ready for the September term!
