The Brief

The PRIDE Academy is a specialist secondary school tailored for students with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It is part of the Orchard Hill College and Academy Trust (OHC&AT) and tailored for pupils and students with varied learning abilities and additional needs across London, Surrey, Sussex and Berkshire.

In April 2022, the school moved into a new building to expand its intake to include a sixth form for 110 pupils aged between 11-19. The PRIDE Academy reflects the values, Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, and Empathy.

Laing O’Rourke appointed Pinnacle to supply the loose and fixed furniture for the purpose-built school. Our brief was to create inspiring, calm, and imaginative learning spaces to complement their all-rounded curriculum.

What We Did

We provided the appropriate furniture for all spaces in the new build. Our capacity product range is designed to withstand robust handling. It is fit for purpose and tested to BS EN16121 Level 2 for severe contact use.

We supplied the first-floor furnishings for the classrooms and the specialist science labs, art and design, food tech, the indoor sports hall, and other rooms on the ground floor.

The science laboratory includes a teacher demo desk with plenty of space for pupils to switch between practical to theory in the classroom. The multi-sports hall facility included basketball hoops, the divisional curtain, and various sports equipment.

The Art, DT, and Food Tech rooms are bright, modern, and offer flexible learning for different spaces. Next to the Food Tech room is a small supplementary classroom created for learning life skills as part of their varied curriculum.

For staff, we created a calm colour scheme with the furnishings to relax, re-energise, and socialise with their colleagues and a quiet area for individual work.
