Wellington College, in Berkshire, is a co-educational independent day and boarding school with a global reputation for offering students an outstanding education and a rich choice of extra-curricular activities.
After completing the refurbishment of their Physics department in summer 2019, we were commissioned to design and fit out a number of key spaces including full refurbishment of the Chemistry block, revamp of their Harkness room with office, and supply washrooms in the out-of-College House, Beresford.
From the initial client engagement meeting to the final installation, it was a pleasure to work for Wellington College again and create inspiring and practical learning spaces tailored to teachers and students.

Project Highlights
Science Laboratories
As part of the fit-out, the laboratories included tiered seating designed to improve the sightline from pupil to teacher during theory lessons. This arrangement fosters better communication, participation, and collaboration among their peers. We used bright and vibrant colours in the practical part of the lab in line with Wellington College’s brand, complemented by Velstone worktops.
Harkness Room
We also worked on various elements of the Harkness room and the office space, allowing students seated in an oval configuration to discuss ideas in an encouraging, open-minded environment with minimal teacher intervention.
Washrooms
The washrooms were designed based on several client engagement meetings to suit their brief. We created a bright, clean lighting and relaxing environment for the students.
