Pinnacle were asked by Weydon School to provide a fit-out in their new art block. The FFE package was with the school and architect to design and was delivered through Deeks and Steer. The project included a number of classrooms and practical art rooms.

The clients aim was to attract new students and inspire those who use it. A calming colour scheme was requested, along with plenty of storage to enable the rooms to stay organised and tidy. The multi-use rooms would need furniture that was flexible yet robust, to accommodate the informal and creative atmosphere.
Weydon’s art room’s featured a number of Trespa tables, some of which were height adjustable and DDA compliant. Trespa tops are perfect for art class environments as they are extremely hard-wearing and chemical resistant. EN stools with a purple shell and silver grey frame were used in the art rooms. The ergonomic shell flexes naturally with the user’s movements, providing exceptional lumbar support. The art rooms all feature integrated TeacherWalls and LockerWalls for maximum storage, the TeacherWalls featuring both blackboard and whiteboard doors. A run of fitted benching was installed in each room, which incorporated plan chests for large pieces of artwork and sink units for clearing up.
What we did
TeacherWalls with full height whiteboard sliding doors, along with LockerWalls, were installed providing plenty of storage. Purple EN chairs were supplied which tie-in with the colour scheme of the LockerWall doors along with the FlexiTables. These allow the room to be quickly reconfigured for different teaching styles and are robust enough for student use. The FlexiTable range offers a choice in shapes and sizes.
Pinnacle worked closely with the client and were successful opening of the school for the beginning of the new term, despite having the window for installation squeezed by the delays of other contractors.
An interesting feature of this project is the various different configurations and specifications of TeacherWall that were installed. Several included locker space storage and there were a variety of different board finishes. Some included whiteboards on a full height sliding door, while those in the art rooms had integrated blackboards, allowing the teachers to sketch and use shading techniques; something which wouldn’t be possible on a standard whiteboard with markers.
