Work Is Progressing Well On Barlby New Schools

10-03-2021

Work is progressing well on Barlby New Schools, a new primary school and The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea’s first special school in North Kensington, London. The primary school is an Outstanding Ofsted school but had tired, outdated buildings that needed renovation as well as a lack of special facilities for children with special educational needs and development.

We are delighted to be working with Penoyre & Prasad architects, who have created an innovative design for the new school, Swift Crafted and Mace contractors, who have been on site for the last year working on the development. The project will see the creation of a single new three-storey building that combines a bigger primary school as well as a new dedicated special school for young people with severe learning difficulties, including Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC).

The younger students will be based on the ground floor with an outdoor learning space and the older children will be on the second floor with an outdoor roof terrace. The new SEN facilities will also have private staff areas and shared hall facilities for all the school.

Pinnacle Furniture has been involved in many SEND school projects and understand the importance of a flexible space to be able to adapt to the educational and physical needs of the students. For Barlby school, we took the architects concept design and designed the complete fitted furniture package throughout the schools, including height adjustable interactive screens, teacher storage wall, bespoke coat bag storage and resource hubs.
